Tech executives emphasized that political violence is unacceptable and denounced an attempt on the life of former US President Donald Trump that occurred at an election rally. The founder of Amazon, Jeff Bezos, stated on X (previously Twitter), “Our former President demonstrated amazing grace and courage tonight while facing actual fire.
” I am grateful for his safety and I am very sorry for the victims and their families.”
Along with hoping for Mr. Trump’s quick recovery, the CEOs of other digital behemoths Apple, Google, Microsoft, and Meta all made social media posts criticizing the use of violence. “I hope for a speedy recovery for President Trump. My sympathies are with the Trump family, him, and the other victims. CEO Tim Cook of Apple said, “I vehemently condemn this violence.”
The event “shocked” Google CEO Sundar Pichai. “The shooting and the number of casualties stun me. He stated on X that “political violence is intolerable, and we must all unite to oppose it strongly.”
In the meanwhile, a shooter attempted to kill the 45th US President today at a campaign event in Butler, Pennsylvania, striking him in the ear. He had blood on his mouth and cheeks. Thomas Matthew Crooks, a 20-year-old gunman, was identified. He was slain. According to police, two more people were “critically” injured in the incident, and one spectator also died.
